Project Proposals
The
main goal of TTi is the Development of projects and program to improve
training for transport in Developing Countries. Members are invited to
contribute by writing a Concept Note containing the main ideas of their
proposals. You may download the form here.
The following project proposals have been developed:
- Training course on sustainable transport in Developing Countries
Sustainable
transport is an important component of a sound development process in
the South. Within this project a training course is developed that
focuses on sustainable transport. The course is divided in 10 modules
that may be used flexible, as part of a larger curriculum or as
standalone courses. - Training on rural transport and logistics planning
This
is a three day training course for regional planners and local
government officials initially targeted at five African countries. The
course aims at providing innovative tools and approaches for
integrating rural transport and logistics into traditional rural
regional planning approaches - Masters (Ma) course in infrastructure and transport
The
Department of Urban and Regional Planning, University of Nairobi
intends to establish a Masters course in infrastructure and transport.
Support will be given in curriculum development and training of
lecturers and initial sponsorship of students .
- Training to reduce maternal death in Africa through improving rural access
This
project will develop a short collaborative training course on Transport
& Maternal Health for practitioners in the health and transport
sectors that will raise awareness of the impact that poor rural access
plays in maternal mortality, map the practical and policy measures and
solutions available and develop a collaborative training experience to
promote the development of multi-sectoral practical actions to overcome
the challenge of reducing maternal death. - Development and implementation of incentive and revenue models for community-based data collection centres
The
main goal of the project is to develop training tools and also provide
training to community organised bodies in order to setup data
collection structures and systems that would manage incentive schemes
for community surveys, including charge rates, sample selection
techniques, communication and marketing. - Training course on large transport investments in Sub-Saharan Africa
The
course shall enable local decision makers and planners to adequately
plan and implement large scale transport investment programs initially
in Sub-Saharan Africa and thus secure sustainability. The course shall
timely accompany each stage of the project and provide general as well
as specific information on the present step. The course shall be
developed in a manner that future replication for other projects is
possible. - Road safety resource management for local government
The
main goal of the project is to develop training tools and provide
training to municipalities in order to systematically manage resources
required to improve road safety problems, including budgeting. - Maintenance training for railways
Railway
systems in Developing Countries are often in a poor condition due to
inadequate maintenance. The network needs proper maintenance to improve
operations, enhance safety and reduce transport cost. For this purpose,
training modules for rail maintenance are developed.
